Since my last post I have changed a few things in my building. The first is the orientation and position of the buildings core. As shown in this auto cad drawing, my core is now in the middle of both buildings. I have also named the two buildings.This drawing also shows the stacking of the floors.
This drawing focuses on the below ground floor (cafe) and the first floor. I decided to place the students cafe below ground in the chasing the dream building. The cafe is spacious and although it has no windows along sulivant street and 6th ave it is adjacent to the large atrium where sitting will be provided. In the Living Through Art Building I decided to put a private dance studio and art studio for the instructors. These studios are quite and private perfect for instructors to paint, stretch etc.
the lobby is located on the first floor. the buildings main entrance is through 6th ave. the shape of the reception desk follows the form of the building, as a result security will be able to easily control traffic entering and leaving the center. The two buildings are connect by two glass cat-walks on this level. In the Living through Art Building There are three art studios and two dance studios. The partitions of the studios is glass. art students will be able to see into different studios and be inspired by each other. people walking up and down 6th ave will also be able to look into the studios.
**I had to provide another means of emergency exit/stairs in the Living Through Art Building, in order to make the building safe**
This drawing focuses on the second floor, the second floor follows the same rules as the first floor. Two glass cat-walks connect both buddings. This floor is entirely studios.
This drawing demonstrates my progress in the section of the building. the drawing above shows the initial idea of what and how I wanted both buildings to co-exist. The drawing below it is my current progress. In the section I shoe the core of the building as well as the glass cat-walks. The biggest change to the section the the shape of the Living Through Art Building. After analyzing my party i realized the form of the building had deviated. consequently the building lost its original gracefulness. In order to correct the issue I added two more floors to the building.
I can't wait to start seeing the materials that you have described. I feel that you have the basis of the building and now need to concentrate on applying the materials, colors and textures so that we can start to feel the building and the spaces.
