Building Typology

1. Which building typology are you researching?
I'm researching performing arts centers/museums.

2. Why are you researching this building typology?
I want to design a visual/performing arts center. In order to do so I must research the architectural designs of both art museums and performing arts centers.

3. What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research i.e. museum for dance,school for digital media...
Visual arts: museums- interior spaces, exterior spaces, natural light, and views
Performing arts: dance studios, music studios,

4. What are the examples that  you will be researching...list the examples, location and architect.
So far i hve found a few interesting museums and performing arts centers.
1- The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida designed by HOK

2- The proposed  Concert Hall and Art Center for Ankara, capital city of Turkey, ArchDoc

3- The Durham performing arts center designed by Szostak

5. What are your goals for working with this building type?

My goals are to successfully understand the different type of spaces required for visual art studios and performing art studios. I also hope to successfully intertweine them into my design

6. What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building?(may evolve once more research is done)

Some of the program elements I will include at this point are requiredspaces for performing, spaces with natural light, locker rooms, common spaces, gallaries etc
